There’s already cooking going on in the kitchen in our house. As a matter of fact, there will be cooking going on in three different kitchens today as we get ready for Thanksgiving. I think most of the normal foods are on tap – stuffing, pumpkin pie, bread, green bean casserole, sweet potato casserole, and 7.5 kilos (that would be 16 lbs.) of turkey.

Also, in traditional Thanksgiving style, we’re having people over. In addition to the normal 15 that we feed every night, the Rules are coming over, as is our friend Gabriel, all of whom are from here in SA, and I think we might even be having a Dutch family over tonight as well. So we’re not quite sure where we’re going to put everyone. We can’t really separate into an “adult” table and a “kid” table, so it will be interesting.

The twist is, as I mentioned in the title, that I’m wearing shorts today. People will be out on the beach getting a tan. Even when I was living in LA, I’m not sure I ever wore shorts on Thanksgiving. My paradigm is getting shifted juuuuust a bit. It’s honestly a little unsettling.

Nevertheless, the 20-ish of us will sit down tonight feeling absolutely blessed for what we have and thankful that we can serve down here in Jeffreys Bay. Christina and I pray that all of you have a great Thanksgiving!!
