For those of you who miss the sound of my voice, here is the link to the sermon that I preached at Silverlake, where I used to intern while I was at Fuller. Forgive the low-tech insertion of the entire link, but it’s what I got for ya:

For those of you who live in Dallas, I’m thinking that you’re going to hear the live version, as I’m probably going to tweak it a little, but give the same basic message on the 19th of this month, both at the All Nations service, as well as the service in The Den. I feel that this is a message for churches in general, as opposed to just that one church. In short, don’t listen to this unless you want to ruin the surprise.
In other news, Christina and I are back up in DC, where it aaaaaall started for us this summer. I keep thinking we’ll get time to rest, but between meetings here and trips all over the place just this month, it seems like our rest won’t come until we get back down to J-Bay.
Speaking of J-Bay, we have a team of 16 students this year, which is a good deal larger than last year. Combine that with FIVE leaders, including me and Christina, and that brings us to a grand total of 21. The hope is that Christina and I will be getting our own space, but even still, that’s NINETEEN in one house. So you can begin by praying for loaves and fishes for the space. We are thankful for the incredible house that the Lord has blessed us with down there, but we’re also acutely aware that 19 Americans are going to be bumping elbows a lot over the nine month span. If I trust, though, that the Lord has called each of us to be there, then I also must trust that He will make a way for us to deal with it. Whether that be new lessons on patience and privacy learned or the rapid construction of another floor or something else I’m not sure, but I do know that He has long been making plans for this and knows exactly how it will be handled.
Now if I can just teach my action-oriented, Type A, hyper-leader side to pay attention to those words as well…
Good luck with the team of 16. You thought 13 kids were a lot but now you have gained 3 in one summer. Chris don’t worry about space God has it under control. Hope you guys are enjoying your summer.
