The same Jesus that walked this earth around 2000 years ago is still the same Jesus I worship and serve today. This is the same Jesus that loved and healed and died and rose. The Bible says God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. I’m not sure why we think today’s Jesus is any different than yesterday’s Jesus. Or why we think that his heart and character have changed. And I don’t know why we don’t beleive that the same miracles, signs and wonders that Jesus used to practice can still happen today. I’m not sure what we really think when we read the scripture, “ask anything in my name and it will be given unto you”. Do we really believe that or is it circumstantial, luck, according to our good deeds or maybe just doesn’t apply for today.

Let me tell you a short story about Jesus and his power that was displayed last week the same way it was displayed 2000 years ago in Jeusalem.

Two of our teammates, Erin and Lauren, have chosen to do house visits as their ministry internship in the township community for the past 9 months. They visit people, pray for the sick, help with chores, and build relationships. Nine months ago they met a woman named Elizabeth. She had been diagnosed with diabetes about a year ago and has been blind ever since. Erin and Lauren always went to visit Elizabeth. They helped her wash clothes, read to her from the Bible and every time they saw her, they prayed for her eyes to be healed.

Eight months went by of the same routine until last week. After our return from Swaziland, Erin and Lauren went to visit Elizabeth again. They helped the laundry, read the Bible and then began to pray for her eyes. As soon as they began to pray, Elizabeth told them, very matter-of-factly, actually, that she’d been able to see for over a week!  She began to identify all the colors in the room, the faces, furniture, and clothing. She had indeed been healed. Erin and Lauren rejoiced with her and shared the good news all day long. We still talk about God’s miracle for Elizabeth.

The same kind of miracles are available today and still do happen! We must call on the name of Jesus and believe with faith the size of a mustard seed and we will see the power of God. Will you praise God with us because of his love for all people and because the blind are still receiving sight!

  1. What a powerful testimony…thank you for sharing. Sometimes we lose sight or forget to look for the good God is doing all around us. Blessings on your special ministry!

  2. I would love to know more about Elizabeth. What was her reation to things around her? Was she blind from birth? This story made me so happy to read it. What a wonderful miracle. Beautiful and thanks for sharing.

  3. I know that God still does miracles. He wakes me up every morning even when I feel like the world is to much to deal with. When I feel like I would be better off dead. The Lord restores my soul and my mind. He tells me he has all power and he can make the impossible possible. I am believing in God for a miracle to start my business and pay off some of family’s debts. Actually I need about 300000.00 to do all of this. I am belieivng in God for this to happen. I don’t know how or when, but I know that God is going to do it. I continue to call on him and give him praise. I know that he works on his time and not on my time. He is answering another prayer of mine that we would be able to adopt our Goddaughter by the end of this year and guess what it is happening. There is no job to big or to small for my Jesus. Just believe and faith.
